Whinlatter, England’s only true Mountain Forest. Whinlatter is home to stunning views, fantastic walks, rare wildlife and adventure play. Explore the many miles of walking trails for unrivalled views across Bassenthwaite Lake, Derwentwater and Keswick. Discover Words in the Woods: A stunning trail through mature woodland and newly planted native woodland. Waymarked posts are engraved with thoughtful, poetic and sometimes humorous quotes about trees. Families can venture into the woods to find giant wooden sculptures of the Gruffalo and Gruffalo’s Child, and other characters.
