The only museum that uncovers the past of home, work and play across the Lake District. Find out stories of the homes, industries and people of this beautiful part of the world. Here you can discover the Lake District through the many ways that people have lived and worked amongst the fells. With changing exhibitions there will always be something new to discover.


Open Mon – Sat 10.30am – 5pm (4pm Nov – Feb) Open Sun July & Aug, 12 – 4pm. Closed over the Christmas period.

DIRECTIONS: From Kendal town centre, pass the parish church, on your right, then take the first right into the public car park signed ‘Abbot Hall’. Pass through the gate at the end of the South Lakeland District Council car park (Peppercorn Lane) into the Abbot Hall car park.
