Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life

Visit the recently refurbished Museum, reopened in its new location in 2014.

Discover the history of soldiers past and present through state of the art displays of uniforms, medals, equipment and fascinating objects that tell the story of Cumbria’s County Infantry Regiment the Border Regiment and its successors, the King’s Own Royal Border and Duke of Lancaster’s Regiments from 1702 to the present day.

Explore a diorama of a WW1 trench and be amazed at the WW2 glider and jeep. With audio visual and interactive displays the Museum reflects the story of ordinary people doing extraordinary things in peace and war. There is something here for all ages! Additional events, activities, lectures and temporary exhibitions are programmed throughout the year.
